WHAT IS THE FOURTH INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION AND WHY MIGRATE TOWARDS IT ?

In 2016, the World Economic Forum, taking place each year at the end of January in Davos, Switzerland, had as its key theme “the entry into a new economic era” : The 4th Industrial Revolution".

Indeed, the first three industrial revolutions are now giving way to the fourth industrial revolution or "Economy 4.0". Three hundred years ago, the first industrial revolution saw the appearance of the steam engine, the second industrial revolution at the end of the 19th century introduced mass production and its assembly lines, and finally the third industrial revolution, that of information technology and the Internet, ended in 2015, even if of course digital technology will remain an important basis for future developments, but not the only one.

This new and 4th revolution, brings with it many technologies that will revolutionize the relationship between man and his environment, between man and machine, and between human beings themselves. This is based on three core technologies: artificial intelligence, biotechnologies and humanoid robots; around which gravitate other advanced technologies such as the quantum computer, autonomous cars, 4D printers, etc.

Thus, companies have every interest in starting their transition towards the 4th industrial revolution now if they do not want to be quickly overtaken. We have to remember that most companies that did not take the digital turn at the end of the last century are no longer here to talk about it...

It is therefore becoming necessary for each company to prepare itself to welcome the 4.0 economy as an opportunity for development and success, rather than allowing itself to be overwhelmed by the wave of new technologies and major changes which are coming at high speed.

Furthermore, to succeed in the 4th industrial revolution, new technologies are only the surface of this economic evolution. So, what is the roadmap for real success? We must remember that each industrial revolution is accompanied by an upheaval at the level of society as a whole. Thanks to advances in the human sciences, neurosciences, and quantum mechanics in particular, we can already say that this 4th industrial revolution will change the way we conceive, produce and trade over the next twenty years. By putting the Human being at the center of all exchanges, this new 4.0 economy will integrate the new deep needs of customers and human organizations, such as the need to be recognized, to be appreciated, and to have value.

This integration of human needs within the company itself is what underlies the very concept of the "Human Connection Economy 4.0" (HCE 4). This innovative concept described by Olivier Vidal in his eponymous book is the roadmap to success in the 4th industrial revolution.

This is why the companies that will enter the Economy 4.0 with clear and ambitious industrial, economic and human objectives with HCE 4, are the ones that will succeed and become the leaders of the new economy in the years to come.
